01About these terms
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the PathLance website and of any consultancy, advisory or application-support service you book from us — online, by phone, over WhatsApp, or in person at our Dalarna (Sweden) or Lahore (Pakistan) office.
By browsing this website, submitting an enquiry form, or booking and paying for a consultation, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site or our services.
In these terms, “PathLance”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean PathLance, an international education and relocation consultancy operating from Sweden and Pakistan. “You” and “your” mean the person using the website or receiving our services, and — where the student is under 18 — the parent or guardian accepting these terms on their behalf.
02What we do — and what we do not do
PathLance provides consultancy services only. We advise, guide, prepare and support. We do not admit students, issue offers, award scholarships, grant visas or issue residence permits — and we have no authority to influence anyone who does.
Admission and visa decisions are not ours to make
Admission and visa decisions rest solely with the relevant universities and immigration authorities. Every offer, rejection, scholarship award, visa approval, visa refusal, residence permit and appeal outcome is decided independently by those institutions and government bodies, under their own rules, timelines and discretion. PathLance is not a party to those decisions and cannot overturn, expedite or guarantee any of them.
Any fee you pay PathLance is for our advisory time and application-support work. It is not a payment for an admission, a scholarship, a visa, a residence permit, or any other outcome — and it never buys influence over a university or an immigration authority.
Services we do provide
- Profile assessment, and honest advice on realistic countries, universities and courses.
- Shortlisting programmes and explaining entry requirements, deadlines and intake cycles.
- Guidance on preparing application documents — personal statements, CVs, transcripts, references and financial evidence — so that what you submit is complete and consistent.
- Support in assembling a visa or residence-permit application in line with the published requirements of the relevant authority, and interview preparation.
- Post-arrival guidance: accommodation, registration, banking and settling in.
Things we will never do
- Promise, guarantee or “arrange” an admission, scholarship, visa, residence permit or job. Anyone who makes such a promise in our name is not acting for PathLance — please report it to us immediately.
- Prepare, submit, alter or endorse a document we know or suspect to be false, forged, altered or misleading.
- Provide regulated legal, immigration-representation, tax or financial advice. Where your case needs a licensed professional, we will say so and recommend you obtain independent advice.
- Take payment on behalf of a university, an embassy, a visa centre or any government body.
03No guarantee of outcome
Success stories, testimonials, statistics, acceptance figures and case studies published on this website describe outcomes that particular students achieved in particular circumstances. They are illustrations of past results, not a prediction or promise of your result.
Admission criteria, visa rules, financial-evidence thresholds, processing times and quotas change frequently and without notice, and are applied at the discretion of the deciding institution or authority. We keep our guidance as current as we reasonably can, but we cannot warrant that any requirement described on this site or in a consultation will still be in force, or will be applied in your case, at the time you apply.
A refusal, delay, additional document request, interview, or request for further evidence by a university or immigration authority is not a failure of our service and does not, by itself, entitle you to a refund.
04Consultations, bookings and payments
Paid consultations are booked through the booking flow on this website. A booking is confirmed only once payment has been successfully processed and you have received a confirmation from us — a slot you have selected but not paid for is not reserved.
- Format. Unless we agree otherwise in writing, a consultation is a 30-minute one-to-one video call with a PathLance adviser.
- Time zones. Slots are shown in the time zone your device reports. Please check the confirmed time in your own local time before the call.
- Payments. Card payments are processed by Stripe. PathLance does not receive or store your full card number, CVC or expiry date. Prices shown at checkout include any taxes stated there; your bank or card issuer may apply its own currency-conversion or foreign-transaction fees, which are not ours and are not refundable by us.
- Fees for wider services. Where you engage us for a broader package beyond a single call, the scope, fee, payment schedule and deliverables will be set out separately in writing and agreed before work begins.
Third-party costs — university application fees, tuition deposits, visa and residence-permit fees, biometrics, translation, attestation, courier and insurance charges — are payable by you directly to the relevant organisation. They are never included in our fee, and we do not collect them on anyone else’s behalf.
05Rescheduling, cancellations and refunds
- Rescheduling. You may reschedule a booked consultation free of charge up to 24 hours before the start time, subject to availability.
- Cancelling. Cancel more than 24 hours before the start time and we will refund the consultation fee in full. Within 24 hours of the start time, or if you do not attend (“no-show”), the fee is not refundable, because the slot has been held for you.
- If we cancel. If PathLance cancels or cannot deliver a booked consultation, you may choose a full refund or a rescheduled call at no extra cost.
- Technical problems. If a call cannot go ahead because of a failure on our side, we will reschedule it at no cost. We cannot refund calls disrupted by your own connection, device or availability.
Refunds are returned to the original payment method, normally within 5–10 working days of approval, depending on your bank. Fees for advisory work already carried out are not refundable on the basis of an unfavourable admission or visa decision — see “No guarantee of outcome”.
If you are a consumer in the EU/EEA, you may have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for services bought at a distance. Where you ask us to begin the service within that period and we do so, you may be charged for the part already performed, and the right is lost once the service is fully performed. Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under mandatory consumer law.
06Your responsibilities
The quality of our advice depends entirely on the accuracy of what you tell us. By using our services you agree that:
- All information and documents you give us are true, complete, current and your own — including academic records, test scores, work history, financial evidence, medical and travel history, and any previous visa refusal or immigration breach anywhere in the world.
- You will disclose previous refusals, overstays, bans and pending applications. Concealing them is the single most common cause of a later refusal, and it is your responsibility, not ours.
- You will read the official requirements published by the university and the immigration authority for your case, and you accept that those official sources always prevail over any summary, checklist or verbal guidance we give you.
- You will meet deadlines, respond to our requests, and pay third-party fees on time. We are not responsible for opportunities lost through delays on your side.
- You will review every application, form and statement before it is submitted, and you take final responsibility for its content and for the declaration you sign.
We will end our engagement immediately, without refund, if you ask us to submit false, forged or misleading information, or if we discover that you have done so. Misrepresentation can lead to bans of several years from the country concerned, and those consequences fall on you.
07Universities, authorities and other third parties
We deal with universities, admission portals, embassies, visa application centres, courier companies, translators, insurers, banks and accommodation providers on your behalf only where you have asked us to and, where required, given consent. Each of them is an independent organisation: they set their own fees, timelines, rules and standards of service, and we do not control them.
PathLance is not an agent of any government or immigration authority, and unless we expressly state that we are an authorised representative of a specific institution for a specific programme, we act for you — not for the university.
This website links to external sites and, at our blog, publishes country and course information gathered from public sources. We do not control external sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. Always verify requirements against the official source before you act.
08Use of this website and our content
All content on this website — text, layout, graphics, photographs, videos, logos, the PathLance name and our brand assets — belongs to PathLance or our licensors and is protected by copyright and trade mark law. You may read, print and share it for your own personal, non-commercial use.
- Do not copy, republish, resell or adapt our content, or present it as your own or your agency’s.
- Do not scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site, or use it to build a competing service or dataset.
- Do not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, our booking system, our admin area or any connected system, or interfere with its normal operation.
- Do not submit unlawful, defamatory, abusive or deliberately false material through our forms.
We aim to keep the site available and accurate, but we provide it “as is”. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it, or any service, at any time without notice.
09Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that:
- We are not liable for the decision of any university, immigration authority, embassy or visa centre — including refusals, delays, withdrawn offers, cancelled programmes, changed requirements or lost documents in their possession.
- We are not liable for losses arising from information you gave us that was incomplete, inaccurate or out of date, or from your failure to meet a deadline or a published requirement.
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of opportunity, earnings, savings, tuition deposits, flights, accommodation or non-refundable third-party fees.
- Where we are found liable, our total liability for any claim is limited to the total fees you paid PathLance for the service that gave rise to the claim.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including changes in immigration policy, strikes, embassy closures, natural events, war, or failures of communications or payment infrastructure.
10Privacy and your data
How we collect, use, share and protect your personal data — and the rights you have over it — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In short: we collect only what we need to advise you, we share it with a university or authority only when you ask us to, and we never sell it.
11Ending the engagement
You may stop using our services at any time; fees for work already carried out remain payable, and the refund rules above apply. We may end an engagement if you ask us to act dishonestly, if you behave abusively towards our team, if you repeatedly fail to provide required information, or if continuing would put us in breach of law or professional standards. Where we end an engagement for reasons other than your conduct, we will refund fees for work not yet performed.
12Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these terms as our services, or the law, change. The version published on this page with the “last updated” date applies to any booking made after that date. Material changes to an ongoing engagement will be notified to you directly.
These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, and the courts of Sweden have jurisdiction over any dispute — without depriving you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law rules in your country of residence. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in force.
Please raise any complaint with us first at info@pathlance.com — we aim to respond within one working day. You can also reach the office handling your case: Sweden (Dalarna, head office) at sweden@pathlance.com, or Pakistan (Lahore, regional office) at pakistan@pathlance.com. Full addresses and phone numbers are on our contact page.
